In what appears to be a breach of contract, the Philadelphia Flyers have terminated Ryan Johansen, who was expected to make $8 million next season.

Ryan Johansen had just one year remaining on his $8 million contract with the Flyers, however the team had to place him on unconditional waivers for the purpose of terminating his contract. Insider Elliotte Friedman broke the news.

It appears that the cause for termination was due to a material breach, but exact details were not immediately provided.

Ryan Johansen is apparently going to be grieving this termination. This is likely going to cause quite the delay, but the Flyers appear to be prepared to go the distance.

This was supposed to be Ryan Johansen's first year with the Flyers. In his career, he has played in 905 NHL games and scored 202 goals and 578 points.
