The Edmonton Oilers have made some good moves and bad in recent times, but now one deal that fell apart has been revealed, and it's a heartbreaker for Oilers fans.

Recently, the St. Louis Blues tendered offer sheets to two rising stars of the Edmonton Oilers, but according to a recent report from insider Elliotte Friedman, things almost went very differently between the two teams. In the report, Friedman mentions that the two sides began talks on a trade to send veteran forward Pavel Buchenevich to the Oilers, with the team having interest in the two players they recently offer sheeted.
What Friedman was unsure about was the official deal between the two sides, with the framework of a deal revolving around Holloway and Broberg for Buchenevich, but the chance to add a 60+ point scorer in his prime must have been a tough one to pass on. At 29-years of age, Buchenevich had yet another fantastic season with St. Louis a year ago, netting 27 goals and 63 points with a +3 differential on a struggling team, with his presence in the playoffs potentially being a difference maker for Edmonton.
Unfortunately for the Oilers, a deal never came to fruition, and now, unless they make some big changes and put themselves even closer to the salary cap, they'll be losing one, if not both of Holloway and Broberg for free.
