After rumors of an impending deal with the Montreal Canadiens, Columbus Blue Jackets forward Patrik Laine is set to meet with Minnesota Wild GM Bill Guerin to discuss a possible blockbuster trade.

Patrik Laine has some of the most potential in the NHL, recording a respectable 388 total points in 480 career games. However, after hitting a slump dealing with a broken clavicle and personal issues, Laine stepped back from the Columbus Blue Jackets to recover in the NHL/NHLPA player assistance program. His coach, Pascal Vincent, made sure to send the best to him and his recuperation process.
"We care a whole lot about Patrik. We're going to miss this man for the time being. He's a big deal for us and we're going to do everything we can to help him. That program is there because it's valued. It's a great thing for the players.

Those guys are hockey players That's what they do for a living, but they're people first. We're going to miss him on the ice, but taking care of our people is No. 1."
Despite the insistence that Laine is a major player for Columbus, it seemed that shortly after he was cleared from Player Assitance, he would be leaving the Blue Jackets. After a reported sighting at the Montreal Airport, many believed the Canadiens could be the top team for a trade deal.
"Patrik Laine was just spotted in Trudeau National Airport👀🤣"
However, reports indicate that a Central Division team could have first dibs. Minnesota Wild general manager Bill Guerin is set to meet with Patrik Laine to discuss a possible blockbuster trade deal in an attempt to test how interested he would be in the team for the long haul.
"The Minnesota Wild reportedly plan to contact Patrik Laine to assess his interest in joining their team."
Though the supposed meeting has yet to occur, this could be a major deal for both teams. Hopefully, the Minnesota Wild can eek something out with the 26-year-old forward. If not, it could be another lackluster year for Patrik Laine with the Columbus Blue Jackets.
