James Van Riemsdyk was once again fantastic for Boston a season ago, and with training camp on the horizon, there's plenty of interest in him as a free agent.

The first rush of NHL free agency has come and gone, and now with training camp just a matter of weeks away, there's very little quality out there as free agent options in the NHL. One player that can provide plenty of value however is veteran forward James Van Riemsdyk, who had a solid 38 points a year ago with the Boston Bruins, and will now look to get back to a contending team as he looks to push for a Stanley Cup.
We've heard that several Original Six teams have been interested in JVR, but now, the latest report from Hockey Buzz is that New Jersey, Tampa Bay and Anaheim are a few in a group of six teams showing interest in the 35-year old.
I've heard the Devils are one of six teams that would have interest in JVR playing on a one-season deal. The Wild are still a possibility. So is a return to the Bruins. Other potential destinations if playing close to home doesn't work out:Anaheim, Tampa, Vegas.
While not the top-six force that he once was, Van Riemsdyk could provide any playoff contender plenty of depth, experience and veteran leadership, and will likely come in at a very solid price. The 2024/25 NHL season is just two months away, and if Van Riemsdyk is to once again make it back to the league and battle for a playoff spot, expect to see a decision coming soon as he makes a choice between several intriguing options.
