Malcolm Subban had some decent playing days in the NHL, and now the brother of PK Subban is back in hockey, signing an AHL contract with the Belleville Senators.

The Belleville Senators have officially announced the signing of goaltender Malcolm Subban to a one-year, one-way contract for the 2024-25 season in the American Hockey League (AHL). This move brings the seasoned netminder back to familiar territory as he prepares to suit up for Belleville once again.

Toronto, Ontario-born Subban spent three seasons with the Ontario Hockey League's Belleville Bulls from 2010 to 2013. During his time with the Bulls, he compiled a record of 64-42-6 in 118 games, along with a 2.52 goals-against average, a .921 save percentage, and eight shutouts. Success in Belleville is where the promising career for Subban started.

The major leap in the professional journey of Subban came when he was chosen in the first round, 24th overall, by the Boston Bruins during the 2012 NHL Entry Draft. In the meantime, through years of splitting his time between the NHL and AHL, he has played 87 NHL games and 206 AHL games. He has played in the NHL with Boston, Vegas, Chicago, Buffalo, and Columbus. In the AHL, Subban has been consistent, garnering 89 wins and eight shutouts, most recently playing for teams like Providence, Rockford, and Cleveland.

Subban has compiled a 3.10 goals-against average, a .898 save percentage, and three shutouts in his NHL career and has been able to maintain a 2.65 goals-against average and.911 save percentage in the AHL. His experience and knowledge of the Belleville area will most definitely be a useful resource coming into the new season for the Senators.

The Belleville Senators return to action on October 30, 2024, against the Providence Bruins at CAA Arena. A fun night is in store, coupled with special Halloween Night festivities and prizes to be handed out for the most creative costumes.
