Jeff Marek has been a staple on Sportsnet and the 32 Thoughts podcast for quite some time, but now it appears as though he will be departing.
For some time now, Elliotte Friedman has been the NHL's premier insider, but it's his podcast with host Jeff Marek that really shines, with the duo becoming a beloved source of information for hockey fans everywhere. However, it's been some time since Marek has been on the show, and now, there have been reports that he is departing Sportsnet altogether.
Details are scarce but multiple sources tell me that for unconfirmed draft reasons, @JeffMarek will likely be no longer performing duties at Sportnet hockey. Details to follow. This would appear to include his podcast duties too.
As the post on social media reveals, there's little to no information on what has happened behind the scenes with Marek, but as of right now, his future appears to be beyond Sportsnet. Throughout his time on the network, Marek has brought a fresh of breath air to hockey coverage, with many listeners of the podcast enjoying the informative and entertaining content.
Those fans on social media have noted his absence too;
Jeff Marek of 32 Thoughts has completely disappeared from the face of the earth since the evening of the draft. Perhaps he's just very dedicated to his summer break, but I'm starting to wonder if Sportsnet did something really dumb.
If they did, Vegas should find a job for him.
Whatever happens, this is an intriguing story and will be worth keeping an eye on moving forward.
