This evening a surprising bit of news has come out that a former top prospect for the Utah Hockey Club is exploring potentially leaving the team to head to Europe.

According to a source former 11th overall pick Victor Soderstrom might be ending his career in North America for the time being. The report indicates he is unhappy with contract talks with Utah GM Bill Armstrong. After changing agents a move to Europe is possible.

Utah defender Victor Söderström has changed agents as he awaits a new deal, but there is a growing belief he may opt to sign in Europe.

Utah has continued to explore trade options for Söderström.

Since being drafted in 2019 by the Arizona Coyotes at the time Victor Soderstrom has struggled to find his way in the NHL. He has appeared in just 53 NHL games with 11 points. In the AHL with the Tuscon Roadrunners he has played 170 games and has 82 points. The offensive potential that was once so promising has diminished as Victor Soderstrom's career has gone on.

At 23 years old there is still hope for Victor Soderstrom to turn his career around but it needs to happen fast. Maybe a change of scenery either to a new NHL club or back to Sweden could do the trick for his development.
