Florida Panthers forward Matthew Tkachuk broke a Stanley Cup rule and could face punishment according to a new report.

Only a day after the Panthers won the seventh game of the Stanley Cup Finals against the Edmonton Oilers in Florida, Matthew Tkachuk did something with the Cup that went viral: he threw it in the Ocean.

A lot of reactions came in after he did it, and most were positive. However, a new development confirmed that Tkachuk could be in hot water..

It turns out that salt water and silver don't mix well together, and he wasn't allowed to throw it in the ocean.

Matthew Tkachuk opened up in a recent interview about how it happened:

"I did not know that wasn't allowed, I promise you. It was the day after I won, I still hadn't slept at that point, and it was just me and a few of my teammates. We had nobody with us to say, 'Matthew, don't be an idiot. Don't do that.' So I thought it was fitting, but if I would have known I wasn't supposed to do it, I wouldn't have done it, but also, I think it's pretty funny."

Later, he shared that his brother Brady was actually the one who came up with the idea:

"My brother was like, 'The ocean's right there, why don't you just go take it in there right now. I'm like, 'That's a great idea. We'll go do that.' I guess I didn't give him credit when I first got asked about it, and he was pretty upset with me, so there, he gets the credit for that."

More to come.
