In a surprising turn of events, TSN'd Frankie Corrado shared that Brock Boeser's future with the Vancouver Canucks depends on his upcoming season.
The Vancouver Canucks have become one of the biggest Canadian contenders for the NHL playoffs, making it to the second round of playoffs in the 2023-2024 season. Part of this can be attributed to 27-year-old forward Brock Boeser, who recorded 40 goals and rose to the level of top power players in the league.
"Brock Boeser has arguably been the most clutch skater in these playoffs thus far. Easily his best offensive season has been capped off by hitting the 40-goal mark thanks to a very strong shooting game & becoming one of the top PP forwards in the league. DAWG."
However, a career offensive season did not seem to be enough for the Vancouver Canucks. General manager Patrik Allvin has decided to wait until the end of next season to work on extending Boeser's contract based on his performance.
"According to Frankie Corrado of TSN, Brock Boeser's contract extension may not be a priority for them this summer, as they want to wait and see how he performs during the 2024-25 season."
Though he had a stellar season, the Vancouver Canucks can almost guarantee a reliance on Boeser starting in October. He still has one year on his current contract, worth $6.65 million per season. Hopefully, he can prove this last season was not just a fluke and can get the extension he desires.
"Vancouver Canucks General Manager Patrik Allvin announced today that the club has agreed to terms with right wing Brock Boeser on a 3-year contract worth 6.65 million per season."
