The Washington Capitals have loaded up for a potential Stanley Cup run in 2024, and now they've made a shock move with one of their top prospects as a result.

The Washington Capitals have some very promising prospects coming through the system, with 2022 third-round pick Ludwig Persson the highlight among them all. Now however, the team has shocked the hockey world by loaning him to Jukurit of Liiga, the top hockey league in Finland for the entirety of the 2024/25 campaign.
NEWS | The Capitals have loaned forward Ludwig Persson to Jukurit of Liiga (Finland-1) for the 2024-25 season.
Persson is a native of Sweden, and has spent the entirety of his hockey career thus far playing in Sweden, but at 20-years of age, the Capitals didn't believe he was ready to make the jump to the United Stats just yet. Standing at 6-foot-0 and weighing 182 pounds, Persson has the physical tools and the talent to be a future NHLer, with the left winger being a natural goal scorer, potting 25 goals in 41 games in his final year of Junior Hockey in Sweden.
The team will now monitor how he jumps to a top league in Europe, and if he can hold his own and even excel, the AHL and the NHL shouldn't be far away for the former No. 85 overall pick.
