Patrick Kane had a fantastic year for the Red Wings in 2023/24, and now he's revealed the reason for his return as a free agent this summer.

After almost pushing for the playoffs last season, the Detroit Red Wings are gearing up for another run in 2024/25, and now they will do so with Patrick Kane, who returned to the Original Six franchise as a free agent. There's many reasons that Kane would have made this move, but now, he's publicly unveiled the reason behind the move;
"Looking back at some of the moments (last season) and some of the calls that Ken Daniels had, I can watch those clips for the rest of my life," said Kane. "The calls he had on some of the goals I scored, those are moments that give you chills. You want to create more of those."
Kane has scored some incredible goals in his career, but last year we saw some iconic calls that made the moments even bigger, and it clearly had just as much of an impact on Kane as it did to Red Wings fans. He would follow it up by stating that those fans were also a big reason for his return;
"For me, my heart was set on Detroit and coming back to Detroit I thought the fans really embraced me too," said Kane.
With the addition of Vladimir Tarasenko, it's clear that the Red Wings are looking to break their eight-year long playoff drought, and with Patrick Kane back to his best, netting 20 goals and 47 points in 50 games, they may just have enough firepower to do it.
