The Vegas Golden Knights have unexpectedly acquired Akira Schmid and Alexander Holtz from the New Jersey Devils.

Alexander Holtz has not worked out as expected for the New Jersey Devils since drafting him 7th overall and he has now been flipped to the Vegas Golden Knights in exchange for forward Paul Cotter, who will fit nicely in to the New Jersey Devils' lineup. The New Jersey Devils have equally traded goaltender Akira Schmid who was a playoff hero for them last season, but lost his spot. A third round pick will go from the Vegas Golden Knights to the New Jersey Devils.

Devils have acquired F Paul Cotter and Vegas third in 2025 for Alexander Holtz and Akira Schmid

Alexander Holtz on the move. No. 7 overall pick just a few years ago

This is a great swing for the Vegas Golden Knights as they look to bring in young skill with high upside potential.
