Gary Bettman and the NHL must be very happy right now, as the conclusion of the Edmonton Oilers and Florida Panthers Stanley Cup Final brought in lots of money.

Per NHL commissioner Gary Bettman, this season's Stanley Cup Finals, brought by Connor McDavid's Edmonton Oilers and Aleksander Barkov's Florida Panthers is the second most watched series in NHL history, with 8.8 million average viewers per game.

Game 7 of the 2024 Stanley Cup Final delivered an average audience of 16.3 million viewers across North America (CBC/SN/TVA Sports/ABC/ESPN+). This is the second most-watched NHL game across North America on record (data since 2004).

Across North America, the 2024 Stanley Cup Final averaged 8.8 million viewers (CBC/SN/TVA Sports/ABC/ESPN+), up 85% YOY. This was the most-watched Stanley Cup Final across North America since 2013.

Last night's Stanley Cup Final Game 7 outdrew any NBA Finals or World Series game in the past five years.

This is no small feat for the NHL, and Gary Bettman must be delirious. Hopefully these numbers will keep up, and hockey will take the thrown as the most popular sport in North America.
