The Toronto Maple Leafs made two very impactful free agent signings last season, in Tyler Bertuzzi and Max Domi. It now appears they may be on their way out.

While both Tyler Bertuzzi and Max Domi were very natural fits for the Toronto Maple Leafs, with their respective gritty and intense styles matching the team well, cap constraints may now lead to them leaving the Maple Leafs and hitting free agency.

"The Leafs aren't against bringing Bertuzzi and Domi back but want to keep the bulk of their cap space available heading into July 1st for defense. Their return to Toronto may hinge on being able to circle back after the initial wave of UFA signings takes place around the league on Monday."

Considering the Toronto Maple Leafs and GM Brad Treliving reportedly have lofty free agency goals, including possible offers to forwards David Perron, Dakota Joshua, and Jake DeBrusk, and rugged defenseman Chris Tanev, the money may simply not be there to keep everybody.

Tyler Bertuzzi and Max Domi are both likely to test free agency on Monday.

Chris Tanev appears to be the Leafs' top choice for defense, while Perron, Joshua, and Jake DeBrusk are seen as forwards the Leafs like.
