After rumors of a trade to Utah Hockey Club, the Toronto Maple Leafs shared that no such deal has been made with forward Mitch Marner.
After another adequate season with the Toronto Maple Leafs, Core 4 forward Mitch Marner has become one of the top trade targets in the NHL. Following the player's elimination from the first round of this year's playoffs,

However, ahead of Game 7 of the Stanley Cup Final, a
'sports journalist' from the New York Herald claimed that a trade did, in fact, go down. Mitch Marner would leave Toronto to join the newly moved team.

Although the final terms of the deal have not been disclosed, it's been confirmed that Marner's time in Toronto is over.
An official announcement is expected sometime this week."
Despite fans' excitement over this supposed deal, David Pagnotta of the Fourth Period shut it down only a few hours later. According to his report, there was no truth to the matter.
"On the Mitch Marner to Utah report/rumor that's out there: I reached out to the Marner camp who told me it is «100% not true.» A Leafs team rep also poured cold water all over the report calling it completely untrue."
Though this seems to be a pretty open-and-shut case of disinformation, Reinhart doubled down on his assertion. He claimed he talked to all parties, ultimately stating they did not want to remove the publicity from the historic Game 7.
"UPDATE: Mitch Marner to Utah is very real, per a member of the Maple Leafs player personnel staff I just spoke to.
Marner's camp also will not confirm nor deny the rumors, they just told me.
Organization did not want to raise alarm ahead of last night's Game 7."
Given how quickly some more reliable sources shut down his claims, Reinhart is likely, at best, stretching the truth of Mitch Marner's trade to Utah HC. Yet, with trade season back on, nearly anything can happen.
