After a stellar career in Calgary, Seattle and Toronto, veteran defenseman Mark Giordano has opened up on his NHL future after a rough season.

The 2023-24 season was a fantastic one for the NHL, but for veteran Mark Giordano, not everything went according to plan. After 24 points the year before for the Maple Leafs, the former Calgary Flames captain played in just 46 games, and with age and injury catching up to him, he saw the lowest point production of his career since 2012.

Now a free agent once again, Giordano's career is at a cross roads, but according to a recent report, he's not quite ready to call it quits just yet.

Report: Maple Leafs veteran Mark Giordano intends to play in 2024-25

Unfortunately for the veteran, it may not be up to him, as he struggled on and off the ice last season, and with more and more young talent entering the league every year, there's fewer spots for veterans like this. Ultimately though, Giordano has proven himself a fantastic leader on and off the ice, with some even calling for his return to Toronto next season.

Absolutely anything could happen over the summer, but for now, it appears as though Giordano will play on as he approaches 41-years of age, and when healthy, he can be an asset, so we will see how his free agency plays out this summer.
