Tyler Bertuzzi's agent breaks the silence on his future with the Maple Leafs

The Toronto Maple Leafs have some important moves to make this off-season, and now there's signs that those moves could push out a fan favourite free agent.

After another disappointing playoff run in 2024, the Toronto Maple Leafs are in a tricky situation heading into the summer, with Brad Treliving having several major decisions forced upon him. All signs are pointing towards a decision on Mitch Marner's future, and with help needed on the blue line and in net, the team may not have the capacity to facilitate every possibility.

Now, that exact scenario has been addressed by the agent of Tyler Bertuzzi, who reveals positive talks with the Maple Leafs while also commenting on the potential of Bertuzzi being squeezed out as a free agent;

In 2023-24, Bertuzzi had a very productive campaign with 21 goals and 43 points on the year, and with his grittiness and infectious personality, he became a beloved Maple Leaf in short order. While he seemingly wants to return, he and his agent realise that the situation may be beyond their control, and if the Maple Leafs need to use that money elsewhere, they may have to explore other options.

Max Domi and several other names are also hitting the free agent market, and with the Maple Leafs exploring potential trades and looking for upgrades all over the roster, it's bound to be a chaotic few months.
