The Florida Panthers defenseman Oliver Ekman-Larsson quit on his team last night and let Connor McDavid score an empty-net goal in the final seconds of game 5.

With the Oilers forcing the Panthers to go back to Edmonton for a sixth game, fans in Florida were quick to point out the team's mistakes.
Oliver Ekman-Larsson is currently facing a lot of heat for a questionable play at the end of the game.
With Sergei Bobrovsky back at the bench, the Panthers went all-in as they tried to tie the game. With a few seconds left in the game, the Oilers managed to shoot the puck at the net.
In a desperate effort, Matthew Tkachuk dived at the net and stopped the puck from crossing the goal line at the last second.
Unfortunately, his teammate Oliver Ekman-Larsson had already given up on the play and couldn't do anything when Connor McDavid scored moments later.
Watch the following video to see how it happened:
Tkachuk makes an all-time great goal-line save and Ekman-Larsson just...gives up on the play and lets McDavid score anyway.

With the Stanley Cup in the building, come on man.
The Panthers' defenseman probably thought that the puck went in. This explains the importance of never quitting on a play, especially in the NHL, during the Stanley Cup Finals.
Ekman-Larsson's reputation will likely take a hit after this sequence, but he still has time to redeem himself in the next game.
Do you think Ekman-Larsson's reputation will take a hit after he quit on his team and let Connor McDavid score an empty-net goal in game five of the Stanley Cup Finals?
