The Toronto Maple Leafs are in dire need of help defensively, and now they've been linked to a trade that would land them a big bodied star from the St. Louis Blues.

After a lackluster performance in the Stanley Cup Playoffs, the Toronto Maple Leafs are looking to make some big changes to their roster, with the team expected to pursue major help on the blue line. Now, that's exactly what David Pagnotta of The Fourth Period has predicted, with Colton Parayko of the Blues linked to Toronto as a top-pairing partner alongside Morgan Rielly.
The #LeafsForever are linked to #stlblues 6'6" defenseman Colton Parayko by David Pagnotta. Parayko led the NHL in blocked shots last year with 218 and averaged a career-high 23:51 TOI. He will be making $6.5m per year till he is 36.
Sure, the team likely don't want to pay $6.5 million per year for another key player, but this is the type of help that they need, with Parayko's 218 blocked shots leading the NHL a season ago. The team will only roster Rielly, Connor Timmins, Simon Benoit and Jake McCabe in 2024-25, so even if they land Parayko, they'll still be looking for another major addition on the blue line.
At this point, it's only a matter of time until Toronto swing big in free agency or on the trade market, and with Colton Parayko potentially available, it's a move that they need to make.
