The Toronto Maple Leafs are juggling a lot right now, especially concerning their current roster and potential trade opportunities. They have multiple talented players who are soon set to become free agents such as Ilya Samsonov, Tyler Bertuzzi and Max Domi.

Brad Treliving also has the futures of Leafs mainstays to consider, that being Mitch Marner and John Tavares, they may each have one more season left with the team, but he's gonna need to figure it out eventually.
The Maple Leafs will be looking to expand their roster given how many players they're likely going to have to let go of and according to Dave Pagnotta, one of those players could be Brett Pesce of the Carolina Hurricanes if Pesce ends up as a free agent.
«Circling back to Pesce, he will be a player both Nashville and Toronto pursue if he's available July 1,» said Pagnotta. «Clearly, there will be other potential suitors, but the Predators and Maple Leafs will go after him if they can.»
Brett Pesce would be a valuable asset for the Leafs, as their defensive game has certainly been lacking recently, and Pesce may just be what they need to boost their defensive prowess.
It would be a strange sight to see Pesce playing in Toronto when you consider that he's been with the Hurricanes throughout the entirety of his NHL career, but whatever the outcome may be, it will definitely be interesting to see how he fits into the Leafs' dynamic.
