With most players from the NHL off the ice during the playoffs, trades for the summer have been brewing for the last couple of weeks. Now, we know that one free agent is officially off the market, as Scott Wilson has officially signed with a team in the KHL.

Scott Wilson spent a great deal of his hockey career as a forward for the Pittsburgh Penguins, including being a member of their lineup during their 2017 Stanley Cup win. Now, with four years away from the NHL, this player has signed with another Russian KHL team.

"Former Penguins forward Scott Wilson signs with Metallurg Magnitogorsk in Russia's KHL.

He was a member of the 2017 Stanley Cup championship team."

Scott Wilson, now 32, played 193 NHL games but spent this last year with the Vityaz Moscow Region team in the KHL, which marked his second season with the team after being one of several players to extend their contract.

"Vladislav Kara, Vladimir Galuzin, Ilya Arkalov, Scott Wilson and Vitali Popov sign one-year extensions with Vityaz. #KHL"

He had a solid run this season in the KHL, scoring 20 goals in 30 points in the 38 games he played. He will now look to continue to dominate this league, but now as a part of the Metallurg Magnitogorsk team.

"Another overseas free agent is off of the market, as Scott Wilson 🇨🇦 has signed with Metallurg Magnitogorsk (KHL) 🇷🇺

Wilson, 32, had 20 goals, 30 points through 38 games played with Vityaz Moscow Region (KHL) 🇷🇺 this season.

He is a veteran of 193 NHL games, and is a 1x Stanley Cup champion (2017)."

With so many players in the NHL becoming free agents, it is hard to imagine Wilson will not be joined by a fellow former NHLer in joining a league overseas. The final count on those joining the KHL, though, will remain unknown until a later date.
