It's official - following the firing of Sheldon Keefe after the Toronto Maple Leafs' loss to the Boston Bruins, Craig Berube has been hired as head coach.

Craig Berube notably brought the St. Louis Blues to a Stanley Cup win in 2019, and is built to be the coach of a team looking to make it over the hump. After years of playoff disappointment, it was time for the Toronto Maple Leafs to make this change.

Sources say Craig Berube will be named the 41st head coach in Toronto Maple #Leafs history.

Expect an announcement soon.

Berube is expected to build a staff, and that may include Marc Savard.

Interested to see who joins Craig Berube's staff in Toronto. There is one former NHL head coach who could jump on, though he has options elsewhere. Experience is key for Berube's bench. Great fit for the Leafs.

At the very least, Marc Savard's definitely on Toronto's radar for a role within Craig Berube's staff.

That said, it's believed that he's still under contract with Calgary through next season.

For what it's worth, the Leafs have been doing tons of leg work behind the scenes to fill out Berube's staff.

A lot of big & different names have been thrown around.
