Last night marked the end of the Hurricanes season after a 5-3 loss to the New York Rangers, it also ended Brett Pesce's tenure with Carolina as his father confirmed his leave on social media.

With Brett Pesce's contract expiring making him set to become a UFA, it is officially over between him and the team that drafted him as his father confirmed that he will not be re-signing on social media.

#LetsGoCanes D Brett Pesce has new representation. He is now repped by Judd Moldaver, EVP of Wasserman Hockey. Pesce is entering the last year of his current contract.

Brian Pesce, Brett's father had responded to a fan comment saying how much Pesce has been appreciated in Carolina. Brian responded the following:

Will certainly come to Raleigh when Brett's on a different team and keep our tradition alive; vodka shots on me!

This seems to indicate that at least at the moment the Carolina Hurricanes and Brett Pesce are expected to part ways with one another. If they do that means one of the top two-way defensemen in hockey will be available and likely highly sought after.

Pesce will no doubt make an impact on the UFA market where he will make north of 6 million dollars minimum. The free agent market just got better with this news!
