It was just announced that the Carolina Hurricanes have terminated the contract of Russian forward Alexander Pashin following a disappointing season.

Hurricanes reporter Walt Ruff just announced that the Carolina Hurricanes are terminating the contract of forward Alexander Pashin.

The #Canes have placed 2020 seventh round draft pick Alexander Pashin on unconditional waivers for the purpose of contract termination.

The 21-year-old played the entire 2023-24 season in the KHL.

Pashin, a 5'8" forward, had a lacklustre season in the KHL scoring 10 goals and 19 points through 60 games. He previously came over to North America in 2022-23 to play in the AHL.

Pashin was drafted in the 7th round of the 2020 draft but some scouts believed he was one of the most skilled players of the class and knew he was fall given his size. He has successfully scored lacrosse goals in competition and while he may never do so in the NHL, he is certainly one of the more skilled players in the world.

It is unknown what his next chapter is but it will likely be in Russia for the foreseeable future.
