Last night Brad Marchand shoved an official on his way to the bench and now he could be suspended for 10 games as a result of his actions.

A frustrated Brad Marchand on the way to the bench pushed an official out of the way so he could get to the bench. Fans were quickly up in arms over the sequence as shoving an official is certainly against the rules.

Marchand is shoving refs now. 😄 #TORvBOS

In the NHL rule book, automatic suspensions will be assessed for players who deliberately apply physical force to an official.

40.3 - Automatic Suspension - Category II - Any player who deliberately applies physical force to an official in any manner, which physical force is applied without intent to injure, or who spits on an official, shall be automatically suspended for not less than ten (10) games.

For these actions, Marchand is supposed to be automatically suspended for 10 games or more. However, the NHL has not made a statement on the issue at hand and it looks like Marchand will get away with this.
