The Edmonton Oilers' Evander Kane is certainly one of the most abrasive characters in the NHL, with his on-ice and off-ice conduct ruffling feathers often.

Following a contract termination mid-season from the San Jose Sharks that came after a slew of controversy involving himself and his family, Evander Kane signed a one-year deal with the Edmonton Oilers.

That led to a long-term extension, but it appears that marriage may come to an end prematurely (in classic Evander Kane fashion).

Edmonton Oilers insider and reporter Mark Spector made these comments, but then quickly deleted them:

As has been the case all of Kane's career, too much drama, boys. Too much drama around Evander Kane. Useless drama. I'll do what every player on every other team does. Yeah, maintenance day, I'm gonna try hard tomorrow. This is needless drama that you don't need starting playoffs, that you don't want in your dressing room. The guys we talk to about Evander Kane running his course - He doesn't run his course as a player, he runs his course as a bringer of drama.

- Mark Spector

In the mean time, while Evander Kane is dealing with a year-long sports hernia, things are devolving in the locker room.

Kane says he's dealing with a sports hernia and has been all season. He's hopeful to play but has needed to take some time off the ice late in the season to let it heal. Full participant today in practice.

For the Edmonton Oilers to succeed, they need the presence of Evander Kane far away from the rest of the team. Connor McDavid doesn't deserve drama.
