PK Subban roasts Sheldon Keefe over William Nylander's management
Toronto Maple Leafs coach Sheldon Keefe gets blasted by PK Subban of mishandling the William Nylander situation in their first round series against the Boston Bruins
Former NHLer turned analyst PK Subban is less than impressed with the way things are being handled by Toronto Maple Leafs coach Sheldon Keefe when it comes to star player William Nylander.
While appearing on the Pat McAfee Show to discuss the first-round 2024 Stanley Cup Playoffs series between the Leafs and Boston Bruins, Subban brought up the fact that Nylander is not expected to play in game 3, and no one will explain what's going on.
Subban admitted that dealing with sports media in Toronto isn't easy, but blasted Keefe for not being able to deal with reporters well, which he feels makes things unfair for fans.
You're talking to people that are educated about the game. We're not idiots. You got to be able to handle that...Let's just say something was ailing him, why are you playing in that last game? And then, what the hell happened between Game 82 and Game 1?"
In Keefe's defense, it isn't just him. It's a little surprising that coaches have been able to stay so secretive when it comes to injuries, starting goaltenders, and other things in the postseason when the NHL is pushing gambling on games to fans more than ever before. In any event, Subban said he still believe the Leafs can win the series against Boston with or without Nylander, adding the team gets "no excuses" from him with names like Auston Matthews, John Tavares, Mitch Marner, and others still in the lineup.
