Kurtis Gabriel seems like the kind of guy former NHLer enforcer John Scott would really like. Gabriel has played in six games for the San Jose Sharks this season and dropped the gloves in just about all of them. However, his comments following a recent fight with Kyle Clifford of the St. Louis Blues definitely rubbed Scott the wrong way.

Gabriel fought Clifford last Monday while the two teams were meeting for the first time since Blues goalie Jordan Binnington went on a tirade, shoving a few members of the Sharks on his way off the ice after getting pulled.

"This was him having to fight me because of their goalie's antics last game," said Gabriel on Twitter after the game. "Nobody will disrespect this team when I am around and not have to pay up for it."

Those comments didn't sit well with Scott, who talked about Gabriel on his podcast.

"Pump the brakes Gabriel, you've been in the league for less than a half of a quarter of a cup of coffee," Scott said. "Like you've had a handful of career fights, like let's not get carried away here man, that kinda irked me a little bit. You're not even in the top five, 10 guys in the league who are tough. When you get a reputation you can maybe say something like that, but even that like I don't think you should say something like that, it's embarrassing."

"It's like OK, you're the man, everyone is gonna see that quote and they're gonna want to do anything versus the Sharks because they're scared of Kurtis Gabriel, stuff like that where you're just showboating a little bit in the media, like nobody cares, I hope he gets knocked out, he deserves to get beat up after that comment, he fought Kyle Clifford and he fought Ryan Reaves, and he did OK in both fights, good for him, it doesn't mean you get to go out and spout at the mouth like 'no one is gonna mess with the Sharks if I'm in the lineup' like easy, honestly, settle down kid," Scott continued.

Scott's comments made their way back to Gabriel, who had nothing but good things to say about the former enforcer.

"Everyone is entitled to their opinion, respect that," said Gabriel. "Agree to disagree big John. Love what you are doing post career, only growing this great game we all love."

Scott then invited Gabriel on to his podcast and it appears things are being worked out to make that happen. All's well that ends well, I guess.
