19-year-old Timur Fayzutdinov, the captain of Dynamo St. Petersburg of the MHL (which is junior hockey in Russia), is at an intensive care unit in hospital with what are being described as life-threatening injuries after taking a shot to the head during a playoff game. The team has made an official post on its Instagram account regarding the incident, calling for support from the public.

"At 19, Tim played almost 200 matches for our team, and he is one of those players for whom there was not a single game, not a single change, when he did not fight for the team and did not fight for the result," said Dynamo St. Petersburg in its statement. "Today in the playoffs Timur got hit with a puck in a game situation. Now he is in intensive care and Yaroslavl doctors are fighting for his life. And at this very moment, you and I together, all of St. Petersburg, the entire Youth League, the entire vast country need to send such powerful support to Tim so that it will give him the opportunity to win this battle."

Here is video of the incident. To be honest, it's not a particularly hard shot, although taking a puck to the head is never fun. This one must have caught Fayzutdinov in a dangerous/sensitive area.

Outside of the information released by the team, not much is known about Fayzutdinov's condition other than he was taken to hospital by ambulance and there is some speculation that he made need to be moved to the Russian capital of Moscow in order to receive extra medical treatment. We wish him nothing but the best in his recovery.
