Speaking with media Tuesday afternoon, Patrick Kane let it be known that he has spoken to Jonathan Toews on a regular basis throughout the season.

Toews, 32, has yet to play this season for reasons that remain relatively unknown, other than the fact that it is a medical condition of some sort. The Blackhawks captain said in December that he was feeling «drained and lethargic» and that he has been working with doctors to get a better understanding of what is going on. Kane made it clear that while his team misses him being around, they have his back through this difficult process.

«Some things are a little bit more important than hockey, and you've got to be feeling right,» Kane told reporters.

As Kane said, there are some things that are more important than hockey, though there is no doubt the Blackhawks could use Toews right now. Despite many predicting Chicago to be one of the league's worst teams this season, they currently sit in the fourth and final playoff spot in the Central Division with a 13-8-5 record, and they will look to improve on that tonight when they take on the Dallas Stars.
