The Buffalo Sabres announced that captain and leading scorer Jack Eichel would miss Tuesday night's game against the Philadelphia Flyers with an upper-body injury. There is no real indication as to when the injury occurred, but according to Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet, Eichel could be out for a while.

"We will see where this goes, as there are rumblings Eichel could be out longer term. No clarification at this time." Friedman said.

Eichel, 24, has had a pretty solid season statistically, recording 18 points (2 G, 16 A), 6 penalty minutes, and a -9 differential in 21 games. As is the case with most of his six NHL seasons, Eichel is putting the Sabres on his back, but despite that, Buffalo is still off to a terrible start, including their current seven-game losing streak.

The Sabres currently sit eighth in the MassMutual East division with a record of 6-14-3 through 23 games. They've only scored a collective 52 goals this season, and only one team has been worse in that category which is the New Jersey Devils who have 51 goals for.

Buffalo will look to end their seven-game losing streak without their captain on Tuesday night when they face the Philadelphia Flyers, with puck drop set for just after 7pm ET.
