On his podcast "Dropping The Gloves" former NHLer John Scott called out Bruins play-by-play announcer Jack Edwards for being "the biggest homer in the world" following comments made about Tom Wilson during Friday's telecast of the Boston/Washington.

Tom Wilson hit Bruins defenceman Brandon Carlo in the head late in the first period of Friday night's game. He received no penalty on the play, and in the second period had to answer for his actions by fighting Bruins defenceman Jarred Tinordi. While serving his five-minute fighting major, the Bruins scored three goals, and after each goal, Jack Edwards took a dig at Wilson.

The first goal while Wilson was in the box was scored by Bruins forward Trent Frederic, and after he scored Edwards said "Tom Wilson has a tremendous view of it from the penalty bench!!".

After Bergeron scored the third Bruins goal of the night, Edwards shouted "and Bergeron puts the Bruins up 3-0 on TOMMY WILSON AND THE CAPS!!".

Brad Marchand scored the third and final goal while Wilson was in the box, which led Edwards to say "Tom Wilson gets up and leaves the penalty bench having seen three goals scored after Jarred Tinordi makes a punching bag out of his head!! Nice going Tom!"

The next day, the NHL Department of Player Safety announced that Wilson would have a virtual in-person hearing for his hit on Carlo, and ended up receiving a seven-game suspension.

After hearing these comments, and watching Friday's game, John Scott discussed the matter on his podcast on Monday.

"If Tom Wilson's on Boston, Jack's washing his car every day because he loves him so much and he's a hard-nosed, tough player to play against, and that hit is a good hockey play. Without a doubt, he's the biggest homer in the world.

"When I beat up Shawn Thornton, go and watch that clip, and listen to Jack Edwards tear me a new one. For a fighter, or what did he say, for a hockey player, who's a pretty good fighter something like that, he cracks the ice when he steps on it. If I played for Boston, that guy would be making me breakfast and dinner every single day."
