The Montreal Canadiens are once again this season at the bottom of the Atlantic Division. They're currently in seventh place, only one point ahead of the Ottawa Senators. One of the most underwhelming players in Montreal is veteran Josh Anderson. A year since being one of the most coveted targets on the trade market, things have taken a turn for the worse.

In 63 games, he scored only eight goals and ten assists, in addition to having a -16 goal differential. We're far from the 21-goal season he had last year. Drops in production like these take a toll on any professional athletes. However, a new report suggests that Anderson isn't fazed by his slump.

In a recent intervention during a French radio show with former NHLer Georges Laraque, Tony Marinaro mentioned that Josh Anderson refused to get help from the Habs' mental performance coach.

Here's his full statement:

"I gave up a long time ago, Georges, let me tell you that. He's been playing the same way for 4 years. His last good season was four or five years ago with Columbus, scoring 27 goals.

He was asked, 'Do you think about using a mental performance coach?' Because Joel Armia has been using one for a few months, and it's going well. Cayden Primeau uses one too, and it's going well for him. And he says, 'No, I don't need that.' But you don't need that? A performance coach helps with your performance. Does that mean Josh Anderson thinks he doesn't need help with his performance? He should've said yes." *Translated from French

Anderson, 29, has three more seasons on his $5.5 million AAV contract. As the Habs continue their rebuilding, his situation with the team will be interesting to monitor.
