According to an article published by Montreal CTV News, police in Quebec City have arrested a woman in her 50s for selling a counterfeit hockey card which featured NHL 2020 first overall pick Alexis Lafreniere.

The police in Quebec City reported on Friday that officers from the Fraud and Proceeds of Crime Unit arrested the 54-year-old woman on Wednesday for the act. After a search, police seized several hockey cards, all of which are believed to be fraudulent.

Though the arrest happened this week, the investigation has been going on since December after police sent out a warning regarding counterfeit Lafreniere hockey cards from his Pee-Wee AAA playing days. There was one card in particular that showed a young Lafreniere at the 2013 Quebec International Pee-Wee Hockey Tournament, which police have said is not authentic. The fake cards were being sold on the internet with fraudsters asking $100 per card.
