With the trade deadline deals settling in, we now have information about how the Vegas Golden Knights completely screwed over the New York Rangers at the deadline.

Sharks Sending Hertl to Vegas Screwed Over the New York Rangers

Everyone was expecting the San Jose Sharks to be sellers at this year's deadline, and that turned out to be the case. However, being too much of a seller may have caused the downfall of the New York Rangers.

When trading Tomas Hertl to the Sharks' rival the Vegas Golden Knights, the San Jose Sharks used up their last salary retention spot. This meant they were unable to trade Alexander Barbanov to the New York Rangers. Insider Sheng Peng had the following to say.

The Tomas Hertl trade happened. In a shocker, the Sharks sent their franchise icon to the hated Vegas Golden Knights. As part of the deal, San Jose used their last salary retention slot on Hertl, a salary retention slot that was meant for Barabanov.

Sharks Making Enemies Despite Their Disappointing Season

Moving Hertl out of San Jose was a surprise, and took even the insider Panel by surprise when Bob McKenzie broke the news. It's obviously clear that the Sharks are looking to the future, and we will see if they can get the number 1 draft pick as a result of selling at this year's deadline.
