As reported by Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman during Saturday's edition of Hockey Night in Canada, the Nashville Predators could be heading for a fire sale if they can't turn their season around in a hurry.

The Preds currently sit second-last in the Central Division, owners of an abysmal 7-10-0 record through the team's first 17 games of the season. They sit just one point in front of the Detroit Red Wings, albeit with 3 games-in-hand.

Friedman stated that should the Preds elect to enter into a full rebuild, there will only be three players who would be deemed "untouchable". Those three players include team captain Roman Josi, defenseman Ryan Ellis and veteran netminder Pekka Rinne, who is very likely to end his career in Nashville.

If it is indeed time to rebuild in Nashville after a long competitive stretch, the quality young assets and draft picks that the club could bring in for Filip Forsberg, Ryan Johansen, Viktor Arvidsson, Mikael Granlund, Mattias Ekholm, Dante Fabbro and Jussi Saros, would really provide the Predators with a great base to build off of.

With the Preds having just drafted their goaltender of the future in Yaroslav Askarov 11th overall in the 2020 NHL Entry Draft, it might not be the worst time to pull the trigger to surround him with other quality young pieces to establish a young new core to build around.
