A veteran defenseman with more than 800 regular season NHL games under his belt will become an unrestricted free agent at the end of the season and will likely generate plenty of interest in the market. It is being reported that he has a preferred destination.

Pending UFA Reportedly Knows Where he Wants to Play Next Year

Brenden Dillon has had an excellent career as a gritty blueliner who adds a lot of size to the lineup (six-foot-four, 225 lbs). His current four year deal ends this season, and Canucks insider Rick Dhaliwal says Dillon is keen on signing with Vancouver.
"Dhaliwal saying Surrey native Brendan Dillion could be a UFA this summer.

He's told Dillion would love to sign with the Canucks.

Dhaliwal believes the Canucks have liked this player in the past."

Upcoming Free Agent Wants a Shot at Playing for His Hometown Team

It makes sense that Dillon at least has interest in suiting up for the Canucks. The 33-year-old is a native of New Westminster BC. His current contract, signed while he was a member of the Washington Capitals, carries a cap hit of 3.9 million. While both the player and team may have interest in signing a deal, it's likely Dillon will have several offers, and money and term will certainly be a factor in his decision.

Dillon will go into the postseason this year with the surprisingly good Winnipeg Jets, and will be relied on heavily to keep order on the blueline and everywhere else on the ice. Just more experience to add to his already lengthy resume. Dillon was never drafted into the NHL, instead signing an entry-level deal as a free agent with the Dallas Stars in 2011. Besides the Stars, Jets, and Capitals, Dillon also spent close to six seasons with the San Jose Sharks, establishing himself as a force to be reckoned with.
