According to Sportsnet's Chris Johnston, Toronto Maple Leafs prospect Rasmus Sandin is expected to miss several weeks due to a foot injury he sustained blocking a shot during the Toronto Marlies season opener on Monday.

This is obviously tough news for Sandin, who was looking to build off of his impressive 15 points in 21 games with the Marlies from a season prior. The 20-year-old defenceman is one of the Leafs most promising prospects, and has already played in one game with them this season, on top of 28 the previous season.

On top of it being bad news for Sandin himself, it is also unfortunate for the Leafs organization as a whole. Not only is their top prospect now forced to go even longer without playing (has only played two games in 2020-21 due to pandemic), but they don't have the option to call him up if needed. Hopefully for both the team and players sake, he is able to make a speedy recovery.
