KHL's Oleg Yevenko suspended for two vicious crosschecks to lower back of opponent (w/)
Defenceman Oleg Yevenko, who once had an entry level contract with the Columbus Blue Jackets, has received a lengthy suspension from the KHL after crosschecking an opponent twice in the lower back during a game on Tuesday. Yevenko, who plays for Chelyabinsk Traktor, drilled Egor Yakovlev of Magnitogorsk Metallurg once in the back, knocking him to the ice. He then decided to do it again, and even harder, as Yakovlev was one the ice and clearly in quite a bit of pain. Check it out:

Yevenko was initially given a double minor for crosschecking, but has since been suspended for four games by the KHL's disciplinary committee. He was also fined an undisclosed amount. No word on the condition of Yakovlev. Yevenko is six-foot-seven and 231 lbs so it's likely those two hard smacks did some damage.
Yevenko,now 29, had a one-year entry level contract with Columbus in 2015, but failed to make it to the NHL. He played 130 games in the AHL across four different seasons with three different teams; the Adirondack Flames, the Lake Erie/Cleveland Monsters and the Stockton Heat. He returned to the KHL in 2018 where he been playing since. Yakovlev played 25 games in the NHL, all with New Jersey in 2018-19.
