The New York Islanders only just appointed Patrick Roy as Head Coach, but according to a source within the organization, it may not be for long.

Patrick Roy to shift roles in New York?

According to Stefan Rosner, an insider for the New York Islanders, the plan is ultimately to move Roy to the General Manager position, meaning his time behind the bench is likely to be very, very limited.

«I think at some point, Roy will be the GM and Desrosiers will be the head coach.» - Stefen Rosner

While he does use 'at some point', meaning this could be next month or two years from now, Rosner's report is a massive one, as it will mean even more change for a team that has struggled to find stability in recent times.

With Lou Lamoriello at 81-years of age, his time at the helm of the team could certainly be coming to an end soon, and with such a great hockey mind like Roy in the organization, this move would make total sense. Behind the bench, he's struggled to get the team going as they now sit in 7th position in the Metropolitan, so whether or not the change comes soon, it appears the Islanders are headed for a massive organizational shift.
