A pair of Montreal Canadiens prospects currently in the NCAA are close to turning pro, according to general manager Marc Bergevin.

Northeastern University defenceman Jordan Harris, and University of Wisconsin forward Cole Caufield are the two prospects Bergevin mentioned during his press conference on Sunday afternoon.

"Jordan Harris is really close to becoming a pro and it's something we are looking at very closely," said Bergevin.

Harris, 20, is in his third year at Northeastern University where he was named an alternate captain. In 15 games this season, he's tallied 16 points (5 G, 11 A), 8 penalty minutes, and is a -3.

When discussing Caufield, Bergevin added, "It's too early to tell the plans so far but expect him to turn pro when his year is done (in Wisconsin)."

Caufield, 20, is currently in his second year at the University of Wisconsin, and is having a great season thus far. In 22 games, the Stevens Point, Wisconsin native has 33 points (17 G, 16 A), 2 penalty minutes, and is a +5.

He represented the United States at the World Juniors for a second consecutive year. In the Edmonton bubble, Caufield was named an alternate captain, recorded 5 points (2 G, 3 A), 2 penalty minutes, and was a -1, helping the United States win their first gold medal since 2017.
