Today a slip-up made by Pittsburgh Penguins GM Kyle Dubas has potentially revealed who the team plans to draft at the 2024 NHL Draft.

Dubas Slips Up And Reveals Who The Penguins Are Drafting

A new screenshot of Penguins GM Kyle Dubas' profile on X has people realizing who the team might draft during the 2024 NHL Draft. Last night Dubas liked a post on X showcasing a highlight reel goal by draft-eligible defenseman for the Saginaw Spirit Zayne Parekh.

Parekh is currently widely considered to be a first-round talent. This means that the Penguins would need to trade up in the draft to land the electric defenseman unless their pick lands in the top 10 already. The question then becomes would this investment be worth it?

Can Dubas Justify Moving Up To Draft Parekh?

Zayne Parekh is one of the more polarizing players in the NHL Draft this season. Some public outlets have him as high as the top 5. Others have some concerns about the translatability of his game pushing him lower down.
Zayne Parekh has the most points for a draft eligible defenseman in the OHL since Evan Bouchard. Parekh is on pace to break Bouchard's pace by the end of the season.
Despite this incredible offensive production, there are some questions about his defensive game. Some also question how well the way he creates offense will translate. However, with that said in the right system Parekh could be one of the best defensemen in the entire league.
For a Penguins team with a struggling defensive prospect pool, he could be worth the risk.
