The Pittsburgh Penguins have struggled drastically this season and are on the verge of missing the playoffs. With an aging core and a quiet prospect pool, the team looks to be in for rough times ahead. With Sidney Crosby's contract ending after next season, contract terms have been revealed that would keep Sid around in Pittsburgh despite the direction of the team.

NHL insider reveals the price to keep Crosby in Pittsburgh

A report from NHL insider Elliotte Friedman has revealed that Sidney Crosby and the Pittsburgh Penguins are in contract negotiations despite the possibility of a retool, Crosby seems keen on staying. With the negotiations underway, Friedman has a sense of what it will take for Crosby to stay in Pittsburgh and it seems to be a big raise.

Friedman on 32TP guesses Crosby's next deal with Pittsburgh will be 3x10 or 3x10.5.

Sidney Crosby would get almost a 2M dollar raise, as he is making 8.75 million dollars on his current deal. This contract would also make Crosby spend his 40s in Pittsburgh. This deal would mean that Sidney Crosby would retire in Pittsburgh, as he should be.

The future regarding the Penguins is still unknown, but we do know Sid does not need another Stanley Cup ring to prove his status and his reputation he created in the NHL, he is and will always be a legend to this game.
