Former New York Islanders first round pick in 2012, Griffin Reinhart, has signed with DEL club Iserlohn Roosters for the remainder of the 2020-21 season.

Reinhart was drafted fourth overall by the Islanders in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft but never lived up to the hype surrounding him. The Islanders traded Reinhart to the Edmonton Oilers in 2015 where he spent the majority of time with their AHL affiliate, the Bakersfield Condors. In 2017, Reinhart was selected by the Vegas Golden Knights in the Expansion Draft.

"Griffin should stabilize our defense. He plays uncompromisingly and does not usually take an above-average number of penalties. The injury to Ryan O'Connor in particular showed that we need this type of player as a useful addition to our squad. We are now starting a phase with a progressively tighter schedule and we are happy that we were able to help our defence and strengthen at the same time," explains Christian Hommel, Iserlohn's sporting director.

Reinhart, 27, spent the 2019-20 season in the KHL with Kunlun Red Star, recording 2 points (2 A) in 33 games.

In 37 NHL games, Reinhart had 2 points (2 A), 26 penalty minutes, and was a -5. In 2 career playoff games, he put up 1 assist, 0 penalty minutes, and was a -2.

Internationally, Reinhart has represented Canada on a few occasions, most recently at the 2014 IIHF World Junior Hockey Championships. In 4 games, he tallied 2 points (1 G, 1 A), 2 penalty minutes, and was a +/-0 as Canada finished fourth, losing to Russia in the Bronze Medal Game.
