A decision by the head coach of the Nashville Predators is causing plenty of debate on social media this weekend. Andrew Brunette recently punished his team for poor play by cancelling a trip to an event.

Nashville Predators Players Punished for Poor Performance

On Saturday's Hockey Night in Canada, insider Elliotte Friedman said the Predators had a trip planned to Las Vegas to see one of the biggest band's in the world at the new Sphere. However, Nashville has not been playing well lately, and as a result, Brunette pulled the plug.

"@FriedgeHNIC reports that Andrew Brunette pulled the plug on Nashville's planned trip to see U2 at the Sphere due to their poor play recently.

It wasn't a Beautiful Day, it seems."

Beautiful day is a reference to U2's hit song of the same name.

"Friedge reports the Preds originally had plans to see U2 at the Sphere in Vegas ahead of their game against the Golden Knights on Tuesday.

Apparently Barry Trotz and Andrew Brunette nixed the trip after the team's performance last week."

Decision by Predators Head Coach to Punish Players Sparks Debate

The cancelled trip was the hot topic on last night's HNIC panel, as each debated whether this was the right thing to do, or whether it was treating grown men like children.

Personally, I find this one to be a hard call. While poor work ethic and results shouldn't be rewarded, all of these players are adults, which makes this seem somewhat childish and demeaning. At the same time, it's the coach and GM's call. I could see something like this happening at a lower level of hockey involving younger players, although it still seems like a harsh move when a trip was already planned.
