There is some animosity between the New York Rangers and Montreal Canadiens' management teams. It all stemmed from ex-GM of the Rangers, Jeff Gorton, joining the Canadiens management group and bringing over a lot of staff with him. It did not sit well with the Rangers management and perhaps that bled into the Thursday affair.

Ex-Ranger trainer comes back to Madison Square Garden

Jim Ramsay worked as a trainer for the New York Rangers for 28 years and returned to the building on last Thursday with the Montreal Canadiens. He likely joined the Canadiens as Gorton had been with the Rangers organization for six years as General Manager. Quite a few staff came over to Montreal from the Rangers since Gorton became the Executive Vice President of Hockey Operations.

On Thursday many of the Rangers players came to greet him at centre ice. Chris Kreider even gave him his stick when he scored a hat trick.

A Classless act from the New York Rangers

For some reason the New York Rangers held no tribute whatsoever for Ramsay. There was no "thank you" or "welcome back" video or still picture on the scoreboard. It seemed that the Rangers organization was either petty or plain forgot. Both options look very poor for the organization.
