The New York Rangers have been a solid team this year although they have not quite lived up to expectations. That being said, the team is bound to make moves at the trade deadline. Today the team made one move that could lead to more changes down the road for the team.

Rangers Place Veteran Center On Waivers

NHL insider Elliotte Friedman reported that the team placed 32-year-old veteran center Tyler Pitlick on waivers. Pitlick has played in 34 games for the Rangers this year, putting up a single goal and 5 total points.

Pitlick (NYR) on waivers

Pitlick has played in 420 career NHL games and has 56 goals and 109 points to show for it. He's always been a journeyman in the league, having spent time with eight different NHL clubs.

Rangers Roster Move Indicates Possible Upcoming Trade?

The move means that the Rangers are currently rostering just 12 forwards and 21 players total. Typically, teams carry 23 players at a time so this has lead some fans to believe a trade is coming soon.

With Tyler Pitlick being waived, the #NYR have 2 open spots on the roster (21/23)

Is there a trade happening soon?

Be sure to stay tuned for updates on the Rangers as major moves could be in store for the eastern conference contender.
