The London Police have opened up on their investigation into the 2018 World Juniors scandal, and now Hockey Canada's statement has revealed a major shock.

Cale Makar to miss the Olympics?

As revealed today, the five players involved will be the only ones charged for the scandal, but that doesn't mean the sanctions from Hockey Canada stop there.

So Makar may not play in the 2026 Olympics cuz of the ongoing criminal investigation

According to Team Canada's statement, all players from the 2018 team remained banned from national action, including Cale Makar, who could now miss the 2026 Olympics due to the scandal.

«Pending the completion of the appeal process, all players from the 2018 National Junior Team remain suspended by Hockey Canada, and are ineligible to play, coach, officiate or volunteer with Hockey Canada-sanctioned programs.»

A tough break for Hockey Canada

With the process only just beginning the legal route, there's many things that can change between now and 2026, but if this remains the case, this would be a brutal blow for Canada, as they would lose their No. 1 defenseman.

At this point, it's unclear exactly what NHL players like Makar and Drake Batherson know, as they weren't at the event where the incident occurred, but as of now, it appears Hockey Canada are sticking to their guns until the investigation concludes.
