The Kansas City Chiefs are in a familiar place this season with their ticket punched to the Super Bowl for the 4th time in 5 seasons. This year though quarterback Patrick Mahomes will head into the game with a lot more external noise than in year's past due to one of his family members.

Mahomes Family Member Arrested For Repeat Of Serious Crime

On Sunday Patrick Mahomes Sr father of the star quarterback was arrested in Texas for an alleged DUI. According to reports this is the third time the Mahomes Sr has been arrested on a DUI.

The 53-year-old father of Patrick Mahomes was arrested last night in Texas, according to online booking records. Bond is reportedly expected to be set later today.
The reports indicate that Mahomes Sr complied with a field sobriety test which he ultimately did not pass.
Mahomes agreed to perform Standardized Field Sobriety Tests and displayed four clues of intoxication during the Horizontal Gaze Nystagmus eye test, five clues during the Walk and Turn test, and two clues during the One Leg Stand, according to police.
Mahomes Sr was subsequently arrested and is now facing major consequences as a result of his repeated actions.

Mahomes Sr Facing A Major Prison Sentence

The reports since his arrest have confirmed that he did surrender to police and is now facing anywhere between 2 and 10 years in jail.

Despite the serious charges that Mahomes Sr will face in the future, he is still expected to be in attendance for the Super Bowl to watch his son and the Chiefs play against the San Francisco 49ers.
Patrick Mahomes Sr is facing a 2-10 year prison sentence if convicted for his third DUI.

He will still be able to travel to the Super Bowl in Vegas despite his arrest.
As the week goes on Patrick Mahomes will likely need to answer questions about his father's behavior and arrest. One has to wonder if this type of stress will affect Mahomes' performance when the bright lights hit in Vegas or if he will put on another masterclass en route to his third Super Bowl ring.
