Rick Westhead has made a name for himself as a reporter that goes the extra mile to uncover stories the NHL would rather see swept under the rug. Today he published another major update on the investigation into Canada's 2018 team.

Potential Charges For Players In 2018 Investigation Revealed

Alex Formenton became the first player in the investigation to surrender to London Police today. Following the news, Westhead noted that there are no specific charges that have been filed yet. However, he did note some possible charges as well as sentences that the former Senator could be facing.

"Several criminal lawyers who specialize in SA cases have told me over the past days they expected former 2018 World Juniors players facing prosecution for allegations in London, Ont., might face charges of SA and forceable confinement. Alex Formenton's attorney Daniel Brown told me today that the former Senators player has not been charged with either of those offences.
He declined to elaborate on what Formenton has been charged with.
If Formenton has been charged with common allegations, he faces a maximum 10 years in prison if he's found guilty. People convicted of SA a maximum of 14 years." - Rick Westhead

NHL Drops Hint About Players Rumored To Be Involved In Hockey Canada Investigation

In related news, fans noticed a change that could have implications for the players that were rumored to be involved in the investigation. Dillon Dube (CGY), Michael McLeod (NJD), and Cal Foote (NJD) have all been removed from their respective teams rosters on the NHL app. Similarly, their jersey names and numbers are no longer listed as options on the team webstore.

This comes after the Devils players had been asked to leave the team practice four days ago.

All of the players listed above have since taken indefinite leaves of absences from the teams. Additionally, Carter Hart and Alex Formenton have also taken leave from their teams. Stay tuned for vital updates on this critical story.
